“People do recover; you just have to believe in yourself and want it bad enough to do it.”

Dr. Abbas Sina is the Associate Medical Director for River Oaks Treatment Center, an American Addiction Centers facility.

Since 2016, Dr. Abbas Sina has treated those struggling with addiction in the Tampa area and beyond as the associate medical director of River Oaks Treatment Center. Prior to joining the River Oaks family, Sina spent nearly 30 years of his career as an ER doctor specializing in internal medicine.

In 2012, Dr. Sina’s career path shifted as he immersed himself in the field of addiction medicine. Having struggled with his own issues with addiction for decades, he was inspired by his own personal experience (and the fellow physicians who helped him regain control of his life) to work to help others who are struggling.

As of February 11, 2018, Dr. Sina celebrated 7 years in recovery and remains an active participant in 12-step programs. His experience allows him to better understand his patients and their struggles with addiction on a more intimate level.

Dr. Sina is a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine, as well as the American Board of Addiction Medicine, and a member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine and the Florida Society of Addiction Medicine.

In his spare time, Dr. Sina enjoys skiing, snowboarding, and scuba diving. Dr. Sina is also a certified general aviation pilot and frequently rents planes to fly leisurely.
